Pure Matchplay!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out on Thursday! It was great to see so many familiar faces and first-time players. We hope everybody had a blast and will join us again at future events :-).

A big thank you to The Winston for hosting us for the first time. It was great to have a new variety of machines to play and combined with their delicious food and drinks, made for an fantastic evening. We look forward to more collaborations in the future!

The night featured eight rounds of matchplay using Swiss pairing to keep things close. While we didn’t have separate divisions, the matches were tight and full of great moments. The night ended with a tie that led to an intense head-to-head between Josh and Patrick yet again. Josh took it home this week with an incredible performance on Dr Who, looping the loops and almost reaching 1 billion points to take the win.

Special mention goes to Frank, for winning the door prize: a $40 voucher to The Winston. And a nod to Cameron, who walked away with the wooden spoon prize as a consolation, earning free re-entry to the next event and a drink on TAPP.

Double Elimination!

If you didn’t make our event last night, you missed out! The competition was fierce, and the showdown came down to some very close matches.

We witnessed a battle of the states, with a visiting competitor from South Australia taking the top spot after a hard-fought fight against our local players. We did our best to defend Tasmania’s honour, but they played like a wizard and earned their victory!

Strikes Night!

Thank you, as always, to everybody who joined us on Thursday!

We ran a 4-strikes tournament where it was all about staying in the game until the last player was standing. With no finals, it was a true endurance test! Once four players were eliminated, we kicked off the B-Division. This division followed a 7/5/3/1 Matchplay format, giving those who were knocked out early a better shot at a prize in B-Division. As players were eliminated from the main strikes tournament, they could jump into B-Division, so there were plenty of chances to make a comeback.

1st place winners in both divisions walked away with a Neon-style LED Pinball Light, while 2nd place took home an AMD cozy and keyring, a custom TAPP wooden coaster (thanks to our member Lee Davey), and free re-entry for the next tournament. We also had a great door prize up for grabs: an AMD cozy+schooner, and a $40 Replay Bar voucher!

Ladder Climb!

Matchplay Knockout!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our Pin-Golf event this past Saturday! It was fantastic to see so many players, both new and experienced, giving it their best shot. Your patience as we navigated the “course” was much appreciated, and once the games got rolling, we all had an amazing night!

Big congrats to our top players:

First place winners (in each division) took home a TAPP Pin-Golf Trophy, and a free re-entry voucher. Second place each enjoyed a box of gourmet doughnuts 🍩.

Matchplay Knockout!

We had a fantastic night at Replay Bar last Thursday, with plenty of friendly competition and exciting moments. The event went a little longer than planned, but that just gave everyone more time to enjoy the games -and we saw some fantastic show-downs! After several rounds of Matchplay, players advanced to the Strikes Knockout, where only the best stayed standing.

A big shout-out to all our winners for their outstanding performances, and a special shout-out to “Ball 3 Solomon” for making multiple epic last-chance comebacks. And congratulations to Simon, who won the door prize – a collectable Avatar figurine from Stern’s 2010 Avatar game.

We’re grateful to Stern Army for their generous contributions, including the Translite and Mustang collectable cars from their 2014 game, along with the Avatar figurine. Thanks also to AMD Pinball, who provided fantastic prizes, including T-shirts, a schooner, and a beer cozy. A special thanks goes to Lee, one of our dedicated members, for creating the awesome custom TAPP coasters.

We appreciate everyone who joined us for the event and can’t wait to see you at the next one!

Strikes Race!

Thank you to all the players who participated in our recent pinball tournament! With 15 enthusiastic competitors, the event was filled with exciting matchups and great sportsmanship.

We kicked off the night with a 3-Strike Knockout format, where each player had to avoid accumulating three strikes to stay in the game. The top 6 players advanced to the A-Division, while 5 players entered the B-Division. The final rounds followed an Amazing Race format, with players facing off across multiple machines in a high-stakes race to the top.

Congratulations to the top players from both divisions!

Prizes for the first-place winners in both divisions included an AMD Schooner Glass, AMD Beer Cozy, Pinball Medallion, and a custom etched TAPP coaster, handcrafted by Lee Davey (thank you Lee!). Second-place winners received a BPAC T-Shirt and Pinball Pin courtesy of AMD.

Congratulations to Simon who also won the door prize: an AMD T-Shirt and a West-Coast Pinball Festival Lanyard!

TazPin Cool-Down

Thank you to everyone who attended our event last Thursday! We kicked things off with an exciting Flip Frenzy, where players showcased their skills head-to-head in this fast-paced format. Following the frenzy, we transitioned into the finals, splitting the competition into A-division and B-division. A big congratulations to the top 4 players in each division:

Best Game!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fantastic night of pinball at Replay Bar!

For qualifying, all players played on 7 different pinball machines. Points were awarded based on the best scores relative to other players on each machine, with a maximum of 100 points per machine. Only the top 5 scores out of the 7 machines were counted, so players had a chance to recover even if they made mistakes on 2 machines.

After qualifying, we broke into two groups. The top 6 competed for the title, while a fun B-Division played for prizes. The finals were conducted as a 2-strike knockout, where players competed head-to-head, earning a strike for each loss. The last player standing without two strikes was declared the winner.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our event in Lenah Valley! The turnout was fantastic, and the competition was intense playing late into the evening. The round-robin finals allowed the top 8 to compete head-to-head against each opponent with close results until the very end!

Pin-Golf Tee-Off!

🎉 Our first round of pin-golf was a smashing success! ⛳

Hold on to your plaid golf hats, this write up is a bit longer than usual!

Thank you to all who attended our first tee-off. It was a much more self-paced qualifying as players progressed through holes (aka machines) to reach target scores in as few strokes (aka balls) as possible.

The top 5 players from the golf course continued to a best-of-3 head-to-head finals. ACE, for having the lowest number of strokes 🏌, received a bye straight to the semi-final whilst the other 4 competitors battled it out.

2. Second Place: Adrian (ACE) Evans – Super Mario Puzzle.

Josh, ACE, and Wes all managed to achieve a hole-in-one on separate machines (Black Knight, Batman 66, and The Munsters respectively) awarding them a drink from the bar and a model car also courtesy of Stern Army from their 2014 game, Mustang.

A huge shout out to Stern Army for sponsoring the event, and supplying us with a Munster Translite to give out as a door prize. Congratulations to Kev for scoring this display piece.
